Stone Forest is classified into karst landforms. Kasite is the transliteration of German term “karst”. Karst is a place name of Istria Peninsula of Slovenia in Europe where limestone widespread. In the end of nineteenth century, scholar J. Cvijic made study on the grotesque limestone landform, and termed the landform as “karst” in his publication “Karst Phenomena”. Since then, Karst has become an international academic term referring to the dissolution process and morphological features occurred on carbonate rock. In China,“ Karst ” is also called Yanrong.
