On October 31, Shilin UGGp was invited to participate in 2023 Annual Conference on China UNESCO Global Geoparks held in the Yimengshan UGGp, east China’s Shandong. The annual conference was supported by the Department of Nature Reserves of the National Forestry and Grassland Administration, the Department of Natural Resources of Shandong Province (Forestry Administration), and the organizers were the Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences, the National Geoparks Network Center, the Global Geoparks Network Office and the Linyi Municipal People's Government. More than 150 experts, scholars and representatives of the Geoparks got together to discuss the sustainable development of the Geoparks.

The theme of this year's annual conference is: exchange promotes promotion, innovation leads to development. The opening ceremony was presided over by Mr. He Qingcheng, Executive Deputy Director of the National Geoparks Network Center, Mr. Wang Yinghai, Deputy Mayor of Linyi Municipal People's Government, Mr. Ma Fuyi, Deputy Director of Shandong Provincial Department of Natural Resources (Deputy Director of the Provincial Forestry Bureau) and First-level Inspector, Ms. Shanpu Ai, Representative of the UNESCO Office in Beijing, Mr. Wei Yanguang, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences and Director of the National Geoparks Network Center, Mr. Chen Xinfeng, Second-level Inspector of the Nature Reserve Department of the National Forestry and Grassland Administration, delivered speeches respectively. Mr. He Qingcheng, Executive Deputy Director of the National Geoparks Network Center and Director of the Global Geoparks Network Office, made the 2023 annual work report of China's Global Geoparks.

During the conference, representatives of Shilin shared with the delegates the experience and practices in geoparks building and management, scientific research and popularization.

The success of this annual conference was well received by the participants. In order to promote the building and development of geoparks, it provided a communication platform, and the geoparks shared with each other, learned from each other's advanced experience and scientific practices, shortened the distance,deepened friendship, and further promoted the development of global geoparks.
