On the afternoon of December 6, Kunming tourism promotion activities themed “making trips to the Spring City of Kunming by high-speed trains” was held in Nanning, south China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, friendly inviting the Nanning citizens to take trains on the soon-to-be-opened Yunnan-Guangzhou high-speed railway to experience Kunming's fantastic natural beauty, rich and colorful  history. The promotion attracted more than 140 local travel agencies and more than 10 media. After the overall tourism promotion highlighting food, entertainment, shopping and sightseeing by Kunming City Tourism Development Commissionin, Shilin Scenic Area, Jiazi Snow Mountain Scenic Area and other scenic spots also conducted a series of tourism promotional activities. Preferential policies covering scenic spots tickets, accommodation, car rental, etc. were launched for tourists with high speed train tickets from Nanning to Kunming.  

After the completion of Yunnan-Guangzhou high-speed railway, the traveling time from Kunming to Nanning will be shortened from 12 hours to about 4 hours. The operation of Yunnan-Guizhou high-speed railway will greatly enhance the prospect of tourism cooperation between Kunming and Nanning, and greatly promote the economic and social development of the two cities.

Shilin is world-class tourism destination, with marvelous karst landscapes and rich culture.

At the promotion event, the audiences also enjoyed Shilin’s Yi ethnic song and dance performances, including the song “ friends from afar, please stay here”, which served as a friendly invitation to Nanning citizens by the Yi ethnic minorities. The audiences also visited the exhibition of Shilin.

This promotional event will continue until December 8, during which there will be posters and photos exhibition related to the National Geographic documentary, presentations on Kunming travel routes and products, as well as tastings of Yunann liquor and tea.
