The 1st and 2nd International Intensive Courses on UNESCO Global Geoparks successfully held in Beijing, which had a very positive effect on the management and building of many geoparks. And such kind of training courses have become important capability building activities for UNESCO Global Geoparks in China.
Sponsored by UNESCO and the GGN ExB, the 3rd International Intensive Course on UNESCO Global Geoparks was jointly held in Beijing by the China University of Geosciences (Beijing) and Fangshan UNESCO Global Geopark from December 3 to 8, 2017 . Based on the current situation of Chinese and Asia-Pacific UNESCO Global Geoparks, this course aimed to train geopark managers, staff, technical supporters, focusing on the theme of geopark management and construction, especially on the Earth heritage interpretation. The speakers were the top international geopark experts from the UNESCO Global Geoparks Council, Global Geopark Executive Board and other institutions.
This course has two parts: the first part was academic presentation and the second part was field excursion. Representative of Shilin attended the conference and had in-depth discussion and exchange with other participants, receiving valuable suggestions, which were conducive to the future development of Shilin UNESCO Global Geopark.
