An International photographic competition themed around the concept of the eternal cycle of nature and culture wrapped up in Kunming’s Stone Forest on Dec 6, with US national Kyle Miller taking away the top prize.
Photographers were permitted to take photos and submit entries between Sept 19 and Nov 14. The competition’s organizing committee received 162 high quality entries from more than 10 countries, including the United States, Canada and France.
At the award ceremony on Dec 6, the sponsor presented 35 photos of Kunming’s Stone Forest, attracting more than 100 visitors.
According to Yereth Jansen, an employee from the competition sponsor, more than one million visitors visit the Stone Forest every year, but few come from overseas.
“We hope that more overseas visitors can get a better understanding of the Stone Forest through the photographic competition and come to have a look,” said Jansen.
The photos on display at the ceremony were all available for purchase. The proceeds will be donated to the China-California Heart Watch (ChinaCal), a foundation to help children with congenital heart disease in Yunnan.
