On October 16, all the members participating in the 11th “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign Secondary School Students in Kunming visited Stone Forest Scenic Area to experience its natural charm and folk customs. Over 300 teachers and students from 99 countries entered Stone Forest under guidance to personally experience the wonders of nature. Seeing the clusters and towering peaks, they all marveled at the magical beauty here and enjoyed taking photos.
With the theme of “learn Chinese, double your world”, the 11th “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign Secondary School Students is organized by Confucius Institute Headquarters, Hanban, and Yunnan Provincial People's Government and undertaken by Yunnan Provincial Education Department, Yunnan Normal University, and Yunnan Broadcasting and TV Station. It is held in Beijing and Kunming from October 7 to 22. The continent champion teams from five continents will compete for the championship of this competition in the final and closing ceremony in Yunnan on October 21.
Since 2002, “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Proficiency Competitions have been attracting over 300,000 young participants from more than 100 countries as well as over a million audiences. It has become a well-known brand event in the field of cultural and educational exchanges between China and foreign countries, known as the Olympic Chinese Contest. Yunnan Province has undertaken this event for 7 consecutive years since 2012, and members of this event every year visit Stone Forest as scheduled to appreciate the spectacular karst and unique Ashima culture in Shilin. With warm and thoughtful services, Yi people in Shilin took care of every participant so that they felt at home and enjoyed the traditional hospitality here.
