In order to give full play to the demonstration function of science education and standardization management in Stone Forest Scenic Area and improve its tourism management and sustainable development of tourism, Shilin Scenic Area Administration Bureau has jointly established a training base together with School of Vocational & Technical Education and Lancang-Mekong International Vocational Institute of Yunnan Minzu University. On July 14, Stone Forest Scenic Area had the first batch of trainees. 95 Yunnan Minzu University students from Grades 2015 and 2016 Tourism Management and Service Education major of School of Vocational & Technical Education and Grade 2017 Tourism major of Lancang-Mekong International Vocational Institute went to Stone Forest Scenic Area for practical training.

This training activity was led by Teachers Yang Jieqing, Yang Yuan and Li Jingxian of Yunnan Minzu University. Lin Qiang, a top 10 English tour guide in China, Qi Haonan, excellent tour guide in Yunnan, and Yang Zhifeng, excellent tour guide in China, were also invited to give on-site explanation to the students. Through elaborate explanation of the teachers and tour guides in the training, students learned the cause of Stone Forest, routes of scenic areas and spots, and Ashima folk customs. They also had on-site rehearsal according to the emergency case designed by the teachers. These students obtained fruitfully, clearly understood the complicated explanation lines, broadened and consolidated their professional knowledge via training in the scenic area. They also marveled at the wonder of nature and the unique charm of folk culture, and deeply understood the difficulty and hard work for tour guide service.
