“2010 National Science Day” held in Stone Forest park on 16th September of 2010 with the theme as “To disseminate the geological knowledge, promote geological tourism, advocate preservation of resources and promote the harmonious development”. Under the deployment of Leading Group Office for Public Scientific Literacy of Shilin Yi Autonomous County, the campaign will be carried on in the county towns, government agencies, enterprises and institutions at the same time.  

During the campaign, Administrative Bureau of Stone Forest scenic spot provided a wide range of science products and promotion service to many tourists and the publics through a wide variety of methods, such as  to create a better scenic environment atmosphere, to place propaganda boards about geological science, to spread the knowledge by volunteers, to offer performance of ethnic arts, and to hand out geological science information sheets. Accompanied by a wonderful ethnic art performance, more than 1,000 tourists from home and board visited the geological science exhibition board at the Stone Forest, and more than 2000 pieces of popular science book namely “Global geopark of China”, “Stone Forest, Yunnan - the Global geopark of China”, and “Guide map of the Stone Forest”. 

Through the “2010 National Science Day”, many tourists and the publics got to know more about the evolution of the geological relics of stone forest and also the theme meaning of this campaign by reading the popular science book and watching the propaganda boards. Improved the tourists’ ideas of cherishing the earth heritage, protecting the environment, saving resources, and performing civilization tourism; improved the geological heritage protection and tourism development of Stone Forest. Raise the science awareness, creative ideas, home pride and self-identity of teenagers in Shilin County; in order to improve the construction of the Global Geopark popular science education base and patriotism education base at Stone Forest, so that the Stone Forest will be a big classroom for people to learn the Earth's evolutionary history and Patriotism.
