UNESCO geological experts Dr. Wesley Hill from American Geology Association and Dr. Henning Zellmer, a committee member of UGN, were on evaluation mission to Stone Forest Geopark.

According to Geoparks management regulations, UNESCO Global Geopark Network Office will carry out evaluation to each member park every 4 years on geology and landscape, management structure, information and environmental education, geotourism and sustainable regional economy.

Stone Forest Scenic Area was inscribed as Global Geopark Network on Feb 13，2004. UNESCO Global Geopark Network Office carried out evaluation on the park on Jan 2009. And this year UNESCO will carry out evaluation again on the park. Geopark evaluation plays an important role in geopark conservation and management.

Besides Wesley and Henning, Ms. Yuan Xiaohong, Geology and Environment Division, Ministry of Land and Resources of P.R. of China and Mr Zhao Zhizhong, from  China National Geopark Network Office and some officials of local authorities also participated this mission.
